Reading Phoenix Choir sang to an appreciative audience in the University of Reading Great Hall on Saturday 1st March.
The audience were treated to a variety of music ranging from Clemens non Papa's rich double choir setting of Ego Flos Campi through William Harris' great anthem Bring Us, O Lord God to settings of folk songs and modern popular music.
However, the main theme for the evening was a celebration of the forthcoming 70th birthday of the famous English composer and King's Singer, Bob Chilcott. The choir included a selection of his pieces including the much loved And So It Goes (originally by Billy Joel) and the concert ended with Bob's arrangement of the Irish Blessing, sung frequently by so many choirs throught the country.
